Riyden Shroud (pronounced rīden) was conceived in the mid-1990s, though the script wasn’t completed until 1998. As a teenager, I originally created a team that mirrored the X-Men too closely to publish without risking infringement. Coming up with something original was a challenge that inspired me to develop an entirely new concept and team that were completely my own.
Riyden Shroud is available for purchase, printed or digital copy, at IndyPlanet.com or can be viewed on Webtoon.
Inktober is a daily prompt-based drawing event which takes place during the month of October. I first heard about it and participated in 2022. Halfway through the month I saw someone on Instagram refer to “X-Mentober”. The idea of doing prompts which involved X-Men was foreign to me, but I quickly jumped on board.
I finished out 2022 with traditional prompts, and ever since have been committing myself to combine the prompts from Inktober along with X-Men prompts created by professional artists. It is both though provoking and fun as some combinations line up serendipitously while others may not coincide whatsoever. Therin lies the challenge.
